I love grocery shopping in Tokyo. My local supermarket has the best sushi and tempura (deep fried) aisle, which tops several Japanese restaurants internationally. My go-to favorites include kappamaki (cucumber rolls) and pumpkin, sweet potato tempura. Add some edamame to that and I’m golden.

The snack aisles are pretty epic but that’s easy for me to say who grew up snacking on Japanese shrimp chips and seaweed flavored potato chips.
Raspberry KitKat bars, where else? They also have matcha/green tea flavored KitKats, which I’ve tried and are quite nice.
The chocolate aisle has me drooling at the mere thought. Meji’s almond chocolates and macadamia chocolates are delicious. As are Meji’s meltykiss chocolates (strawberry flavor is my favorite), which live up to their name in the way that they melt in your mouth.
At Tokyo’s National Art Center, the exhibition Yayoi Kusama: My Eternal Soul, takes center stage as one of Kusama’s largest shows yet.
Kusama and I have a long history together, which began way back in 2004, when I saw her Kusamatrix exhibition at Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum. This was followed by the Kusama exhibition at London’s Tate Modern in 2012 and followed by Yayoi Kusama In Infinity at Moderna Museet in Stockholm 2016. It’s been interesting to follow her how work and audience have developed over time, especially after the buzz/hype caused by her Louis Vuitton collaboration.
The exhibition features 270 works selected from Kusama’s more than 70-year prolific career. On display are 132 large-scale paintings from Kusama’s “My Eternal Soul” series, several sculptures (which I find very cheerful), and a retrospective aspect with 80 works ranging from Kusama’s earliest drawings to the more present.

The lifestyle shop stocks a selection of chic things, ranging from fashion, cosmetics, homewares, food and plants to vintage furniture. I’m a fan of their ceramics, which looks like unique one of a kind pieces.

Minimalist art in the form of Dan Flavin’s fluorescent light fixtures was on display at Espace Louis Vuitton in Omotesandō, Tokyo.

A diamond tiara, diamond earrings, diamond necklace, diamond rings and diamond tennis bracelets set my heart racing.
It’s wedding season in the shop windows, where an array of exquisite diamond engagement rings are on offer. Needless to say, my answer is I do to any number of the items on display!

Luxury fashion house Chanel presented a stunning black and white Karl Lagerfeld photo exhibition entitled Versailles A L’ombre Du Soleil in its Nexus Hall space in their Ginza, Tokyo skyscraper.
The exhibition couldn’t have come at a better time after my recent trip to

I’m back home in Tokyo for a spontaneous, unplanned and quick jaunt. It’s sakura (cherry blossom) season, which is my absolute favorite time to be in Tokyo as the city turns pink in celebration with beautiful sakura decorations and sakura snacks.

Yum, even the seasonal sakura blossom frappuccino topped with maple whipped cream and sakura chocolate shavings is back for a limited time only! I’m rarely in town when it’s available, so I’ll be sure to get my fill.
I love visiting Sanrio World Ginza as almost everything is pink, glittery and totally girly. カワイイ(kawaii – cute)!
Nearly everything you could possibly imagine and then some, is available at Sanrio World with mainly Hello Kitty but also other cute Sanrio characters. This includes pens, calculators, double-clips, paperclips, erasers, sharpeners, key chains, bedazzled cellphone covers, chargers, porcelain, chopsticks, lunchboxes, lip gloss, beauty products, hand towels, umbrellas, handbags, toiletry cases, suitcase straps, and postcards. The list goes on and on but I thought I’d just mention a few of the things available.
Despite the fact that I don’t like real life cats, I am a fan of Kitty-san. So I decided to pimp up my suitcase by purchasing a fabulous new suitcase strap to replace my tattered old, boring gray one that matched my suitcase to perfection. #oldpersontryingtobeyoungagain
